What’s the story?

We’ve created Beyond the Short to celebrate independent cinema and to promote and inspire filmmakers around the world. Think of us as your 24/7 online film festival, putting a curated selection of visually striking and thought-provoking films at everyone’s disposal.

Beyond the Short is run by a close-knit team of filmmakers. We have been curating films for over a decade, starting our journey back in 2009 with a small channel on Vimeo called “Independent Filmmakers.”

Over the years, the channel has reached a fan base of 96k followers (and counting!).

The films you submit are reviewed by a team who understand and respect the complexity of your craft and are capable of analyzing it with an educated eye. However, that is a double-edged sword, as it makes our selection process pretty strict. We are continually looking for films which challenge us and that push us to experience a unique perspective both visually and emotionally. Do you have a great piece you’d like us to check out?
