Directors Statement

“A Feller and a Tree” explores the struggle of displaced communities. When a people have been cast out, how do they hold onto the sounds, colours, identity and memory of their homeland? How do they carry it across generations? Through the portraits of Sri Lankan Tamil Canadians, this film seeks to examine our relationship to land, both lost and inherited, landscapes both remembered and imagined.
