“Unquiet” By Charles Wahl

Shot on 16mm, Unquiet is an observational glimpse into intimate, and personal moments of people experiencing anxiety. The film isn’t a traditional linear story, but rather an observation of people and a state of mind told visually to convey an atmospheric tone and feeling.

As a filmmaker I traditionally create films with a narrative structure. Although I love making those films, I have always been drawn to more atmospheric and tonal video projects that are less about plot and more about a feeling. When it comes to feelings, anxiety is a powerful one.

On a personal level, I wrestle with anxiety on a constant basis. It’s a feeling, and a topic that many people are still very hesitant to talk about and share with others. The current pandemic has only increased those feelings in myself, and so much of the world.

Unquiet was created as a way to express feelings of anxiety, but to also provide a sense of unity and hope. Showing all of these portraits is meant to convey that these feelings are universal, we all feel them. And it is okay.

Thank you for taking the time to watch.
