“GOOFY” by TT^TT

A skater, restless from months off the board due to a severe leg injury, is haunted by their ghost board as they tramp about, trimming their hair, lazing in the tub, and limping about Culver City. Will they experience skate bliss ever again?

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“I met MJ through Lorenzo on a commercial project. We spent days dragging around three-hundred-thousand-dollars worth of Arri and Angenieux gear shooting prosaic set-ups for the agency and we started talking about growing up skating and how much fun it was to shoot on the VX1000 and we were both like “let’s make a skate film!” His friend MJ is a goofy footed skater (and real-life 2nd AC) and was healing up from a gnarly snow ski crash and totally game to be on-camera. Lorenzo’s VX was toast plus all three of us were all over the place schedule-wise, so we met up in Culver City whenever our schedules allowed over a week or so and shot an A7 and an older Panasonic GH with kit lenses. MJ really got into acting and brought a very cool subtle flavor I leaned into in the edit, lending the film an intelligent emotional core. Marco Oryx at Grey Card Studio is an awesome human and let us film the projections on his cyc for a sack of Chick-fil-A. I asked around for favors on the music and no one bit so I made the score myself in GarageBand which was a total pain in the ass steep learning curve but it helped the movie come out feeling unique and super fun. We’re happy!”
