“O1G” By Cheap Electric Pink Wool
The latest music video for artist Cheap Electric Pink Wool - A thief plots to steal a goose that lays golden eggs, but his plans start to slowly unravel around him.
We’ve known the artists for quite a while and they came to us asking if we’d like to make a film for their latest track. They were really open with the brief and extremely keen to collaborate. Theo had the idea to centre the narrative around a heist where the goose that lays golden eggs is killed by mistake. For the budget we had, this initially seemed near impossible but, (for the most part), that’s never really the case. We (Tom & Theo) were the only crew for the live action sequences, which certainly spread us quite thin but also allowed us to take our time and make mistakes without feeling too precious or pressured. We landed on a really effective edit technique which consisted of Theo getting a (very) rough cut together, which Tom then recut, before Theo recut it again. We went back and forth like that until we had the final cut. Beyond that, we were hugely fortunate with the time and expertise lent to us by our collaborators, Daniel Prothero (animator), Nick Dalby (Colourist), Scott Ryan (Flame Op), and Jon Hartman (typography).
