“Everything Reminds Me” By The Deep Dark Woods
The film is a portrait of Colleen and Dennis, an elderly couple living in grasslands of Southern Saskatchewan. It's an elegy to a disappearing way of life.
The video was an emotional one for me. I grew up in Saskatchewan and spent much of my formative years on farms. I love much about the people and the land. Both are tough and beautiful. Unfortunately the small farm life is one that is disappearing from the scene as large multinational corporations come to control more and more. So for me it really is an elegiac piece. I was very fortunate to be given the chance to film Colleen and Dennis, who are some of the most patient and gracious people you could ever hope to meet. I hope you enjoy the video.
