A space traveler is about to find the secret behind a happy and fulfilling existence with the help of a supercomputer he has built himself inside his spaceship.
From The Director
“The story is a (loose) reflection of myself growing older and asking whether there’s a masterplan for life. The video was shot in 4 days, the set design and the creation of the props/spaceship took several weeks. Since it was a no/low budget project, we had to try to keep things simple. For example the interior of the spaceship had to be minimalistic, but luckily the use of a colored background served the story as well.
Therefore, the aim was to create a self-made yet pleasing sci-fi aesthetic. To achieve that we tried to rely on a lot of practical effects wherever possible for example miniatures for the spaceship and an alien planet were made.
The ship miniature is mainly made of plant pots & plumbing pipes, the smaller details are parts from model kits. The design process was quite time consuming and I tried many different designs before I decided to go for the cylindrical design. I got a lot of inspiration from Star Wars spaceships. The colorful planet is barely made of anything but a few normal and a few (painted) plastic plants I had used for a different project before. It was all about carefully arranging the few plants, so it looks like there are more of them. The search device was probably the most fun prop to design since I was able to use a bit of experience from the spaceship build and due to its compact size it was way more manageable. The base is also made of plumbing pipes.”
