“Nasty Things | lust supper” by Artem Verkhogliadov

A little doll comes alive in a dollhouse and falls in love with her neighbour. But an old doll master stands in their way and tries to separate them.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

"We started working on this music video back in January of 2021. Song name comes from the chorus line “The nasty things are nice to hear if said by you.” We decided not to go for a standard love story, because this kind of love can also be pretty menacing. We also wanted our video to look like it is a screen adaptation of some forgotten short story from the beginning of the last century.

We self-financed the entire production, so we could afford only one or two shooting locations. We decided to build one really detailed miniature set and then compose the characters into this environment. That’s how we came up with the idea of the dollhouse: our production team worked really hard to build a four-room house with electric lights and tiny furniture.

And now, after five months of prep and a year of complicated post-production, here is a story of an old doll master and the dollhouse full of living dolls."
