“Where Is God?” By TARO
Synopsis
Giuliano (TARO) was born in a religious family and educated according to conservative religious rules. He went to a religious school, prayed regularly and was always following the rules. But as he grew up, he began to have questions. One main question was: why are people suffering so much in the world?
It is a beautiful reflection study on religion. If there is God on Earth, then why do people suffer and why is he so unjust? Why are some babies doomed from birth, while others without doing anything have already become a golden kid?
Directors statement
I wanted to protect the intimacy and delicacy of the artist’s prayer, his way to voice pain and hopelessness. The symbolic, modern images of society – luxury, hunger, pollution, bonfires – stroke me as the right visuals. To confront ugly questions, we chose to create a beautiful narrative language. As we know, many scary things are perpetrated showing a pleasant face.
