“Crutch-Tap” by Michael Basha

Years after the death of his beloved older brother, a young performer creates a new dance called Crutch-Tap that came to him in a dream. Haunted by his brother's spirit, the performer dances under streetlights late at night as he hones his new dance. Now, he sets out to put on his first ever live show where he will unveil his new dance and honor the dream him and his brother once shared.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“At first glance, “Crutch-Tap” may seem like a film about loss; the loss of a loved one, the loss of a dream, the loss of the past. But maybe those things aren’t really lost. Maybe those things have already come back to us in some way. Maybe, like in the film, they come back to us in a pair of tap shoes duct-taped to some crutches. Or maybe they come back in a joke or the way a street light shines on the pavement at night. However it reveals itself to you, know that these are signs, just as the images in the film are signs; a sort of vaudevillian fever dream at twenty-four frames per second. Maybe this film will return something to you that was once lost. I hope you find what you’re looking for.”
