“I Shot A Gun Once” by Santiago Schiappacasse

After 24 years of obsession with guns I finally had the opportunity to shoot one. Little did I know that this shot, which I saw many times on different screens along all these years, would break the perception that I had built around them for so long.

"I Shot A Gun Once" is the reflection on that break.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

"Like many other kids, I grew up watching action movies and playing war video games. This routine made guns a daily image throughout

my life and despite knowing what they did in the real world, I just never looked at them in that way.

Seven years ago I found myself shooting a real gun for the first time. I remember walking out of the shooting gallery soaked

in sweat and extremely nervous without really understanding what just happened. All I could think of was that I really didn't know anything about them.

We are all hit by reality at different times of our life and through different experiences, this was one of them. "I Shot a Gun Once" is the way I found to reflect
on all those questions that came up when I shot that gun and realized that what I always believed to know was nothing like reality."
