“The Sisters” By Andrew Benedict
Synopsis
On top of the mountain is a lake, and in the lake is an island, and on that island is a shack where THE SISTERS wait every day for their father to return.
Directors statement
This whole project came together very quickly, and was written based on who and what I had available. I produced a branded video shoot in September and took the free set flats when we were done, storing them in my friend (the DP)'s studio. He had a camera and lights that we supplemented with a generously discounted rental from Handheld Films. I know the actors (and their explosive capabilities) from the Brooklyn comedy scene and wrote it specifically for them. I wrote in a tiny model set because I knew I could make one myself. It's black and white because it gives production value, and makes art easier and cheaper. I work with the very talented editor and "wind master" who both volunteered their time. Even the old radiator in the set was written in because my landlord was throwing it away. I truly made a list of ideas and set pieces and mashed them all together, along with watching some old movies and stealing plenty of references from them! It was a lot of work and a very small team that all hit it out of the park, and hustled to get it done before Halloween.
