“The Bike Thief” by Finn Thompson and Brendan Dwyer

A young man loses his bike and possibly his faith in humanity. An absurd comedy that explores righteous anger and the toxicity of assuming the world is against you.

A young man desperately strives to find his stolen bike. He takes to the street to hand out posters, repeatedly calls the police, harangues his friend who might have borrowed it, and hangs out at the local velodrome in the faint hope of seeing it - to no avail.

Finally fed up with his obsession, his partner takes him to a dinner party to help distract him. Although he isn't interested in accepting this random injustice, his behaviour becomes toxic when he feels mocked by her and her friends. The young man has a public meltdown, causing him and his partner to break up. Feeling dejected and alone, he walks home when he receives a voicemail from a bike repair shop reminding him to pick up his bike.
