“The Great Wake” by Charlie Klipp and Mario Cassem
“The Great Wake” is a short film shot on 35mm and digital tape about a visitation dream, where two friends—one living and one dead—reunite on Halloween night. In our film, a computer game the friends programmed together in life serves as the tether to memories of each other after death.
We follow a nostalgic foot chase where things quickly turn nightmarish. Player 1 wakes up, picks up the old game disc, and unlocks internal memories—remembering a simple truth of grief: that those who leave us are truly never gone.
