"Love Under Pressure" by Zon Chan

Beyond the Short Official Premiere

In this visual tapestry of "Love Under Pressure", a thorny landscape unfolds as the protagonist tightly clutches a crimson rose— an embodiment of the wounds inflicted by expectations. Blood oozes, poetically representing the pressures of love and conformity. Within the silent expanse of an empty room, a profound canvas reveals the void sculpted by societal norms and stifled individuality.

As the protagonist navigates this confined space, the standing mirror becomes a poignant reflection of an internal strife, mirroring the expectations that intricately mold one's perception of love. The interplay of light assumes a dance, casting shadows on contemplative moments, embodying external influences.

A figurative rebellion emerges, challenging society's rigid expectations, echoing the profound truth that love, like life, eludes complete planning or control. The narrative's fluid sensibility resonates with the ever-shifting essence of love beneath pressures, advocating for an organic adaptation to the intricate complexities of human connection in this cinematic exploration.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

"My intention is to create a series of moving images that encapsulate the profound dilemma stemming from societal pressures entwined with love. Through the subtle portrayal of unspoken emotions and the tangible manifestation of internal turmoil, I want to illustrate the complexities of this struggle.

Within this visual concept, my fascination lies in the symbolism of fire in the context of love. I perceive fire as a dual symbol, embodying both the relentless heat of pressure weighing upon love, and the burning desire and passion inherent to it. This juxtaposition endeavors to evoke a profound question: To love or not to love?

The creative and production process prioritizes artistic instincts, emotions, and spontaneous reactions, departing from conventional technical structures. Similar to life itself, where not everything can be planned or controlled, this approach embraces the organic nature of the process and collaboration."
