“Minutiae” by Tiemo Weidemann

Find the magic in the smallest and most mundane details of everyday life … and you will feel once again wide awake, like a child.

"Minutiae" is a poetic short film that combines images from the creation of a bronze sculpture with thoughts about our path to adulthood and the loss of one of our most precious abilities.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

The short film "Minutiae" was commissioned by German artist Hans Heinze, who wanted to produce a subtle, introspective and artistic film in homage to his late brother.

Right at the beginning of the project, Mr. Heinze explained to me the tragic circumstances that led to his desire to produce the short film.

The decision to show the creation of a sculpture inspired by these circumstances set the stage for a parallel story that weaves this human tragedy into a forward-looking, fundamentally optimistic narrative. Hans Heinze already had a clear vision of what the presented sculpture should depict, but otherwise he gave me carte blanche for the concept of the film.

Been given this creative freedom was incredibly rewarding and allowed me to find a way to fulfil Mr. Heinze's wishes and implement my own vision. I wanted the film to be more than just a short documentary on how to make a bronze sculpture. Further, I wanted to move the audience emotionally and make them feel like they are witnessing something very intimate and special.

I am extremely grateful for this project and especially for the trust that Hans Heinze placed in me and the help and guidance that Marco Wallberg from Dreipunkt gave me throughout the project.

I hope that I have succeeded in making you appreciate the small details of your everyday life a little more.
