“Floris Postmes” by Jack Margerison

Beyond the Short Official Premiere

For two years I have been travelling to Tillenden, Netherlands to document the life of Floris Postmes. In this documentary, I follow Floris, a self-taught artisan, as he meticulously forges exquisite knives amid the echoes of an ancient monastery in the Southern region of the country.

The film delves into Floris's unique journey within the world of knife making, exploring the delicate balance between creation and destruction. As we witness Floris's relentless pursuit of perfection, the narrative unfolds to reveal not only his craftsmanship but also the profound personal growth he experiences as both an individual and a skilled smith.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

''For two year's I have been visiting Floris Postmes at his house & workshop in Terlinden, The South of The Netherlands. Over that time I have been fortunate enough to watch Floris grow as a person and as a Blacksmith where his workshop is amidst the historical backdrop of an ancient monastery.

My fascination with Floris started when I saw he had built his own tiny house and This venture delves into Floris's profound quest to carve out his path in the realm of knife-making. It unravels his pursuit of perfection, a delicate dance between an instrument capable of both creation and destruction.''
