“A Dose of Nature” by Chiara Brambilla

A major accident left her with a broken back. She thought she would never walk again. Dismissed by multiple doctors, nature-lover Shell Robshaw-Bryan found traditional medicine couldn’t help her. With no other choice left, she later found a cure in the most unexpected of places: nature. A Dose of Nature is a deep exploration into what it means to live with chronic pain and not being heard, opening up to the invisible but powerful bond humans have with the natural world.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“At 24, I was diagnosed with several chronic conditions that left my body and mind slowly deteriorating. Like many, I turned to traditional medicine, hoping that doctors held a magic solution to erase my pain. But reality didn’t match that hope. The doctors couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong, and their treatments weren’t helping—much like in Shell’s case. To continue living life fully, I had to explore alternative ways to heal, which led me to a new understanding: my body and mind were not separate but one. That’s when I reconnected with the world around me—nature in all its forms. Whether it was a walk in the park or a day by the beach, nature became my way out of the darkness. I felt a deep connection to Shell while making this film, as she too found that medicine alone couldn’t restore a "normal" life. The mind and body are so closely intertwined, yet this is often overlooked in traditional treatments. Through Shell’s journey, I hope to shed light on the power of ecotherapy, the idea that spending time in nature can effectively address both mental and physical health challenges.”
