“Echoes of Tomorrow” by Harvey Pearson

'Echoes of Tomorrow' began as an unplanned project during the summer when my long-time collaborator Ben Dowie came to visit me. With no specific plan in mind, we went to speak with our neighbour, Susan, a remarkable 92-year-old woman whose wisdom and warmth has always made a deep impression on me.

What started as a casual conversation turned into something far more meaningful as Susan shared her reflections on life and her hopes for the future of humanity. Her words, filled with optimism and grace, resonated deeply with all of us that day.

Since filming, Susan has received a difficult diagnosis, and this, amongst other personal events, made me stop and revisit that conversation. I quickly realised it now held an even greater significance, and it became clear what this film would be.

If I’m fortunate enough to live to 92, I hope I can look back on life with the same contentment and faith in the future that Susan shared with us that day. Susan’s wisdom and spirit continue to inspire us every day, reminding us of the importance of hope and faith in the future.
