“Me + Lee” by Giorgio Miraflor

Current recluse Theo strikes up a conversation that he didn't realize he needed with his pizza delivery guy.

A grief-stricken Theo refuses invitations home to visit his family, opting instead to stay in New York. He has few plans and avoids going out with his friends. Crates of records in his apartment catch the eye of Lee, his pizza delivery guy. Theo invites Lee in to check out the records and smoke. As Lee complains about his frustrations, Theo listens and provides advice. As the conversation deepens, Theo reveals the records belonged to his recently deceased younger brother. Theo gifts Lee one of the records. After Lee leaves, Theo books a flight home to visit family.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“I am in the process of completing a 'Genre Hopping Short Film Series' that consists of 4 Shorts. 'uTransfer' was the first installment for SCIFI, and 'Me + Lee' is the second for a SLICE-OF-LIFE DRAMA. This film is a love letter to my little brother Salmo. During the pandemic I was able to go back home and spend more consistent time with him, and it reminded me of my favorite things about our relationship: the simple things. The hours of conversations about everything and nothing, the tribal mentality of our support for each other, the relentless obnoxious laughter we share whenever we're together. And these in my opinion are evergreen, they stay in the air forever. Whether it's your father, your mom, your best friend, your girlfriend, your boyfriend, your partner, or your brother; I hope everyone can find this piece of connection that I tried to display in the short.”
