“Intruder” by Anna Evtushenko

So, she's herein this room in an apartment in a house in a city at night. Should she grab the book? Or remember why she's here, what it's all about, through a video on her phone? Can she have some peace? Or will she be interrupted? Does she belong; can she let go; all questions without answers but there is hope that the morning will come.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“While the story is straightforward on the surface, the idea of intruding into someone's space and the question of whose space it is in the first place are complex. Home-lessness, immigration, seeking shelter — writer-director Anna Evtushenko has been thinking about these themes since her native Russia invaded Ukraine, and they permeate this US-based work. The film breaks some of Russia's restrictive laws, and one crew member who's in danger is listed under a pseudonym.”
