“A Good Day Will Come” by Amir Zargara
"A Good Day Will Come" follows Arash, a young Iranian wrestler, who becomes a symbol of hope amid national unrest. After winning gold at an international tournament, Arash publicly supports the protestors, drawing government scrutiny. Despite his family's and coach's concerns, he joins a mass protest, bravely pleading with soldiers to allow non-violent passage. His act marks him a national hero but also seals his fate. The government detains, coerces, and executes him. Arash's brother, Amin, fueled by grief, seeks guidance from the coach, indicating the ongoing struggle for freedom. The film explores sacrifice, courage, and the quest for justice.
FROM THE DIRECTOR
“A GOOD DAY WILL COME is a deeply personal project for me, one that reflects the complexities and struggles faced by many in Iran today. Through this short film, I aimed to shed light on the harsh realities and difficult choices that people must navigate in a challenging socio-political landscape. My hope is that the film will evoke empathy and understanding, allowing viewers to connect with the characters on a human level and to see the distinction between the actions of a government and the spirit of its people. This film is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of storytelling to bridge cultural divides and spark meaningful conversations about human rights and justice. This film is dedicated to Navid Afkari.”
