“Bouquet Exposé” by Kristyna Archer

Beyond the Short Official Premiere

Unveiling the untold confessions of a burn-out bouquet, this film thrusts a jaded floral arrangement into the limelight. In this candid tell-all exposé, we've given a literal voice to wilted petals, exploring their trials and tribulations with a touch of satire and humor.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“Bouquet Exposé is my urgent plea for the need for climate storytelling—as a means to thaw us out of existential dread and into action.Over the past few years, I found myself grappling with the weight of existential uncertainty exacerbated by global events such as the pandemic and environmental crises, now most presently, the Los Angeles wildfires.  I found myself reshaping my life around a future I feared, one where I hesitated to bring life into the world. This period of paralysis was marked by a profound sense of powerlessness and hopelessness. A transformative shift occurred during the summer of 2023 after I witnessed both a birth and a death occur in a short span of time. This stark dichotomy jolted me out of my detached apathy. I realized that while my mind had been mired in darkness, true progress cannot flourish in obscurity; it demands stepping into the light and taking concrete action. This awakening sparked my inspiration to create a film led by the power of climate storytelling. I wanted to personify the complex emotions and challenges triggered by our changing planet through an authentic, grounded, and jaded character we could relate to—Bouquet. As a director, my intention is to harness the universal language of humor to break down barriers, shift perspectives, provoke action, and foster connection. Absurdity and humor act as a blade, slicing through apathy and despair. With the aim of igniting conversations about the climate crisis through comedy, Bouquet became the perfect embodiment for regeneration and gave life to my existential dread.“
