“Harvest Moon” by Frank Frascella

With one final chance to escape a dying planet, a survivor must find the strength to hope again.

In the far future...

VITA, a galactic mega corporation, set out to create exploitable planets from uninhabitable moons. In secret, VITA succeeded in creating one of these living factories: a terraformed moon full of mines and scattered farms. They lured desperate volunteers with the promise of work and an ideal life. It was referred to as a...Harvest Moon.

Quickly exhausted of its resources, this world's environment began to collapse - its air turning poisonous. Desperate to hide their failure, VITA keeps a watchful eye on the thousands of workers they've stranded on the dying moon while terraforming hundreds of others. If truth of Vita's failure escaped, millions more could avoid the same fate.

This is the story of migrant worker Ana and her desperate attempt to escape this dying world while dealing with the passing of her little sister Claire. After VITA discovers her plans, they hunt her and her fellow vagabonds down in order to stop the truth from getting out. Through her journey, Ana must learn the strength to trust and hope again if she ever going to make it off world alive.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“This short science fiction proof of concept film chronicles the struggle of moving on from paralyzing grief and learning to trust people once again, a story that I feel hits a particularly relatable nerve coming out of this horrible pandemic. But through this shared trauma, underneath the grit and grime of an oppressive world, I wanted to posit the story of Harvest Moon as one of hope, perseverance, and progress.

Special thanks to the amazing cast and crew that helped lift this story out of the ether and into reality. Making movies is hard. Making movies during a once in a lifetime pandemic with no more than 8 people on set at a time is nearly impossible. But we did it because of the incredible passion, grace, talent and work ethic of everyone on board. I am forever humbled by the experience of making this film, and I hope that audiences can feel that heart when they watch. Enjoy.”
