“THE MARTYR OF HUDSON YARDS” by Kevin Doan

Wrought with a sudden relapse of anxiety attacks, Elias, a young Asian American artist in New York City, traipses the recesses of his mind to figure out how to get back to his friends and family.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

"What overwhelmingly manifests as a deeply personal and isolating experience is influenced by sociopolitical structures and conditions that shape our shared existence. How we experience pain and loneliness, and how we are (un)able to talk about it, are also impacted by how we are racialised, gendered, classed, queered, disabled, and so on. The Martyr of Hudson Yards addresses the fraught subject of mental health with patience.

In the central character Elias, a young Asian American filmmaker in NYC, we find a man permitting himself to be honest and vulnerable out of love for his friends and community."
