“Metamorphosis” by Taveeta Szymanowicz & Peter Schnobb

“Metamorphosis” follows Taveeta Szymanowicz as she explores, through contemporary dance movement, the connected chaos between wanting change and rejecting it.

Produced by Made To Tell Studio, and shot on location in Toronto, Canada during the later end of the pandemic, “Metamorphosis” is a visual love letter and diary to all who experienced some sort of isolated Metamorphosis at that time.

FROM THE DIRECTORS

“This film was the result of a deep chaos I felt during the pandemic between my inner artist and the period of isolation and stagnation that it was enduring. I made it as a means of using art as a processing mechanism, and because I needed to explore what it meant to want change but also reject it at the same time. It is imperfect and raw, just like my Metamorphosis, and when you feel stuck in transition, I hope it reminds you to lean in, however messy it might be.”

-Taveeta Szymanowicz

“As we were just about to start our shoot, we encountered some technical difficulties with our camera setup, causing us to delay our shoot by an hour. The initial plan to capture the more choreographed portion of the dance suddenly turned into a race against time to preserve our daylight. Yet, despite it being the imperfect scenario that it was, it became an integral part of our narrative - a metaphor for the unpredictable nature of transformation itself.”

-Peter Schnobb
