“Tripping” by Amelia Xanthe Boscov

Beyond the Short Official Premiere

A pregnant high schooler is forced to go on a road trip with her lesbian mom in order to get an abortion at the nearest women's health clinic. Along the way, they fight, encounter a sexy bible saleswoman, a gaggle of drugged teens, an acid trip, a wise giant floating fetus, and the World's Largest Shoe. They eventually make it 500 miles to the women's health clinic with a better understanding of each other.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“Making this film was a true feat for everyone involved. There were countless moments where making this film felt impossible -- a pandemic, a two-year wait, replacing two DPs last minute, rain, losing locations, losing cast and crew, the list goes on. Looking back, I know I surrounded myself with the best crew possible because we still made it happen.

The idea behind "Tripping" was that every film about abortion does not have to be a tragedy. What if traveling due to the lack of women’s health clinics wasn’t a low point in the character’s life, but instead a bonding road trip?  That being said, the abortion is just one thing that happens in "Tripping". The abortion is the launchpad for an exploration of family, romance, and personal growth.”
