“UMBRA” by Cristian Roncancio

"In April 1966, we chose to face the Sun during an eclipse. In that instant, we made peace with the shadows that loomed above us."

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“Throughout our evolution, we have created and inherited myths that surround almost everything around us. As a storytelling species, we have narrated our stories since the origin of the sky that shelters us, our beliefs, and our existence. Today, we are the continuation of many of those myths. In this film, a group of young people from a Latin American neighborhood in Bogotá is about to create their own myth.

UMBRA is a personal and collaborative film that seeks to demystify headwear in Latin America, specifically in Colombia. The origin of this myth is a collective reflection that encompasses contemplation, imagination, poetry, the roots that remain within us, and, of course, the street. "This is our myth, repeat it."
